Environmental issues tend to be overwhelming to those who encounter them. I have a real passion for this area of law and the nuances it brings to each situation. My job and my goal each time I have a client approach me with an issue is to make it as understandable as possible and to put the issue into perspective so the client can be comfortable with what needs to be done and how we are going to accomplish the necessary steps. Taking the worry out of the process by providing informed and knowledgeable counsel makes the client’s life easier, and at the end of the day that is what my practice is meant to do.

Amy Rickers is an experienced lawyer with a focus on environmental law, both litigation and transactional/advisory areas. Amy has unique practice experience in that she has practiced on both the regulatory (Government) side of environmental issues and on the private sector (business/individual) side of enforcement and compliance. This blend of experience provides a comprehensive approach to her legal practice. Previously practicing in Texas with clients throughout the country, Amy has transitioned her practice to North Carolina and has the capacity and ability to represent clients locally as well as nationally with environmental matters. Amy’s experience as a litigator for more than 15 years and her experience in transactional and advisory environmental issues provides a solid base for evaluating any environmental matter that arises. Her past experience has covered all media including air, water (wastewater, storm water, and groundwater), waste, soil, and endangered species work. Amy enjoys working with her clients to understand the multi-faceted aspects of environmental issues. Whether it is compliance with environmental regulations in the operation of a business, applying for brownfields program protections for development of underutilized and distressed properties, assessing properties or businesses for potential purchase or sale, responding to notice of CERCLA or RCRA investigation, or contesting or defending permit applications for business operations and compliance, Amy is well equipped to analyze and explain the process and necessary actions to a client and to assist them through the process.
