Fiduciary Litigation Associate (2-6 Years)
Johnston Allison Hord is seeking an associate attorney to join our Litigation Practice Group with a focus on fiduciary litigation.
Experience in the following areas would be favorably considered:
- 2-6 years of experience in estate planning and administration and a desire to utilize this experience as a fiduciary litigator; alternatively, 3-6 years of litigation experience with at least some experience handling trust and estate disputes.
- Strong writing skills.
- Must be licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
Our fiduciary litigation attorneys represent individuals, nonprofit organizations, and corporate fiduciaries in disputes involving trusts, estates, power of attorney abuse situations, and related issues. No litigation experience needed for candidates with estate planning experience who are looking to shift their practice to fiduciary disputes.

Commercial Real Estate Attorney (4-10 Years)
Johnston Allison Hord is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Commercial Real Estate Practice Group (CREPG) in Charlotte, NC. Our CREPG, comprised of 11 attorneys, represents clients in building their businesses, real estate portfolios, commercial developments, and communities. Four or more years of experience is preferred but not required.
Experience in two or more of the following areas preferred but not required:
- Represent clients in commercial real estate acquisitions, sales, and development
- Represent clients with regard to commercial leases, subleases, easements, declarations, condominiums, and other title matters
- Negotiate commercial loan terms and documents
- Advise clients on condemnation, rezoning, and land use
- Advise clients on 1031 exchange, opportunity zone, and other tax issues
- Joint venture document drafting and similar capabilities
Qualifications:
- 4-10+ years of commercial real estate experience preferred
- Candidates with strong residential real estate experience, including title review and negotiation of title commitments, will also be considered
- Must be licensed to practice law in North Carolina
Licensure to practice law in South Carolina is a plus.

Taxation Attorney w/ LLM

Experience in the following areas would be favorably considered:
- Mitigating tax burdens for clients in areas involving mergers & acquisitions, real estate transactions, business tax planning, nonprofit tax planning, employee benefits, business succession, wealth transfer, charitable planning
- Federal, state and local taxation
- Representing clients in tax controversies before IRS Administrative Appeals, the U.S. Tax Court and Federal District Courts
Qualified candidates must have graduated with an LLM and have at least 6 years of prior law firm experience, including experience in tax law.

Litigation Associate (3-8 Years)
Johnston Allison Hord is seeking an experienced associate to join our Litigation Practice Group. We are looking for a motivated attorney with three to eight years of litigation experience with an interest in either general commercial litigation, fiduciary litigation, construction litigation, or employment litigation.
Experience in the following areas would be favorably considered:
- Providing legal advice to clients on a variety of litigation issues.
- Conducting legal research and analysis.
- Corresponding with clients and opposing counsel.
- Drafting legal documents.
- Participating in legal proceedings, including depositions, motion hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trial.
Qualifications:
- 3-8 years of litigation experience
- Must be licensed to practice law within the North Carolina or willing to obtain a North Carolina license immediately.
- Experience representing either plaintiffs or defendants in civil litigation.
- Experience in hearings, depositions, and/or motion practice.
- Trial and arbitration experience is a plus.
