At Johnston Allison Hord, we strive to create a summer clerkship program that closely approximates the practice of law.
JAH’s summer clerkship program is challenging, stimulating, and rewarding. As a clerk with us, you won’t be relegated to a back office, conducting endless research and only making friends with your computer screen. Our goal is to make your clerkship substantive and interactive.
We encourage you to share the practice area in which you have the most interest. Then, we’ll match you to a partner mentor in that practice group. Your mentor will coordinate project assignments and serve as a resource, answering any questions you may have.
Although we want you to work on assignments in your area of interest, we also want you to experience the teamwork between our practice groups and understand the breadth of services our Firm provides. Thus, by the end of the summer, you will have completed litigation, corporate, real estate, and trusts and estates projects. This rotational structure ensures that you meet everyone at the Firm—not just a select group of attorneys.
You can look forward to assisting with a wide range of projects, including helping to prepare for key hearings, participating in closings, and drafting business succession plans.
But never fear—a summer with us is not all work and no play. Ultimately, our goal is to see if you would be a good fit as an associate with us, and that means getting to know you. Our social committee plans engaging events to facilitate a more personal interaction between clerks and attorneys.
Johnston Allison Hord conducts on-campus interviews at UNC Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University. If you are interested in participating in our summer clerkship program and attend one of those schools, we require that you submit your resume to us through that process. If you attend another school and are interested in participating in the summer clerkship program, please submit your personal information and résumé via the below form.
