Jaylyn Powell is an experienced corporate attorney who focuses her practice on representing closely held businesses in matters regarding business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, business succession planning, and corporate governance. She advises clients across several industries including, technology, retail, entertainment, and construction.
With both a law degree and MBA, Jaylyn partners with growth-oriented organizations to realize their full potential. Her broad corporate experience representing corporate clients and franchise businesses equips her with unique expertise to assist her clients ranging from solo proprietors and family-owned businesses to large companies operating across multiple industries, including franchisor and franchisee entities.
As a member of the corporate group at JAH, Jaylyn combines practical business insight with sophisticated legal strategy to advise and lead complex business matters including, merger and acquisition transactions on both the buy and sell side, regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local governmental agencies, and counseling clients on the formation, structure, and governance of various types of entities, including holding companies that streamline ownership, improve asset management, and position businesses for expansion and acquisition opportunities.
After graduating from Elon School of Law, Jaylyn began her career as a domestic violence and general family law trial attorney in the Greensboro, NC area. Upon graduating with her MBA, she transitioned to practicing franchise law at a local Charlotte, NC firm where she negotiated, drafted and reviewed intricate contracts before joining the Corporate Practice Group at Johnston Allison Hord.
