Begin with the end in mind. I begin every transaction with my client’s end goal in mind, and use big picture thinking, combined with the nuances of the law, to achieve that goal in the most efficient way possible. If it can be done, I will use every legal method and creative strategy in my toolbox to make sure that it is. If it can’t be done, I will tell you that in a no-nonsense fashion right upfront, and then figure out a different way to get as closely as possible to that end goal.

Katie Barr is a real estate attorney that has spent a decade working within commercial real estate in several capacities, representing clients in the government and commercial real estate industries. She advises clients on planning and zoning matters, economic development strategies, tax appeals and revaluations, condemnations, and the purchase and sale of real property relating to schools, parks, libraries, and County functions. Katie regularly negotiates and drafts real estate purchase contracts, commercial leases, and settlement agreements. Having begun her career working with a large real estate developer, and later working with the Cabarrus County Attorney, Katie has the advantage of sitting on both sides of the table. She understands the unique challenges and objectives that developers, investors, and government agencies face in a real estate transaction, enabling her to get deals done.
