Austin is a proud 7th generation Texan who has grown to love the Carolinas, which he has called home since 2007.  He and his wife have four children and are loyal Auburn fans and parishioners of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Austin Walsh is a seasoned North Carolina litigator with a practice focused on construction and complex commercial disputes. His extensive trial experience makes him an invaluable asset to businesses and individuals facing the uncertainty of litigation.

Before joining the Litigation Practice Group at Johnston Allison Hord, Austin was a trial attorney at a mid-sized law firm in Charlotte, North Carolina and made frequent appearances in state and federal courts across the state.

Representative Experience

  • 1-week jury trial resulting in favorable settlement after cross-examination of Plaintiff’s experts. (2022)
  • Obtained summary judgment for a large farm equipment dealer against plaintiff’s UCC Article 2A Finance Lease claims for breach of express and implied warranties in which plaintiff had demanded $2.5 million. (2022)
  • Negotiated a $295,000 settlement for a large home improvement company pursuing subrogation of a product liability claim.  (2020)
  • Obtained summary judgment for a national restaurant franchisee in negligence action and successfully limited unreasonable discovery demands for confidential corporate information. (2019)
  • Obtained summary judgment for a client against allegations of wrongfully providing a rental vehicle to an unauthorized party.  (2017)
  • 1-week jury trial of an admitted liability case in which the jury awarded the amount requested by the defense. (2015)
  • 1-week jury trial of a negligence case in which the jury awarded the amount requested by the defense.  (2015)
  • Obtained defense verdict after a 3-day trial in a case of admitted liability. (2015)
  • Obtained summary judgment in negligence case for large restaurant group, with operations across the southeast, and successfully defended notice of appeal. (2014)
  • Tracey Catherine Briggs v. Sara Marie Markiewicz, No. COA21-443, 2022 WL 1554857 (N.C. Ct. App. May 17, 2022). Upheld summary judgment of negligence action.
  • Odina Wesley, et al. v. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education, et al., 247 N.C. App. 248, 793 S.E.2d 229 (2016).  Reversed denial of jurisdictional motion to dismiss.
