JAH is pleased to announce that Sheldon Stokes has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Meritas, a global alliance of independent, market-leading law firms. Meritas firms provide borderless legal services to companies looking to effectively capture opportunities and solve issues anywhere in the world. Sheldon was elected to the position from the more than 7,400 attorneys in the Meritas member network. She will serve with 20 others from around the world for a three-year term. Sheldon will play a key leadership role as Meritas helps companies do business across international borders.
“Sheldon has been a strong leader as the Meritas network has grown to serve an increasing number of companies’ cross-border legal needs,” said Sona Pancholy, president of Meritas. “It’s a critical time for our leaders, when global business, political, environmental, and technical dynamics are constantly changing. Sheldon has a keen understanding of what keeps in-house counsel up at night, and the ways in which a network of premier independent firms can best address those client needs.”
Sheldon has been involved with Meritas for a number of years. During this time she has served on the Young Lawyer’s Advisory Board, which she currently serves as chair-elect. As a Meritas Board of Directors member, she will participate in strategic planning, development, and member recruitment and retention. She will also participate in the administration of Meritas’ rigorous quality standards which sets the network apart from other organizations.
