Johnston Allison Hord partner Sheldon Stokes was recognized as Highly Recommended in the 2024 Meritas Women’s Leadership Awards “Woman of the Year” section. The awards were presented at the Meritas Annual General Meeting hosted in Charlotte, North Carolina, and highlighted the organization’s mission to support women in developing their legal careers and promote the amazing accomplishments of women within the organization. Sheldon was recognized for her leadership mentoring other attorneys, participating in strategic planning, and spearheading other initiatives within Johnston Allison Hord and Meritas.
“Meritas champions its women attorneys and has supported me through the journey of balancing a legal career and motherhood while building me into a leader in the organization,” said Sheldon. “I could not be more excited to accept this award and be recognized for my achievements from such a wonderful organization.”
Meritas Women’s Leadership Council
In addition to being honored at the award ceremony, Sheldon was also selected to serve on the Meritas Women’s Leadership Council. This new appointment follows a successful term on the organization’s Board of Directors. Sheldon also served as Chair of the Young Lawyer Advisor Board where she spearheaded a rebranding initiative to the Emerging Leaders Advisory Board.
