The North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) recently hosted its 45th Annual Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Program from July 25-27 at Kiawah Island, SC. The conference covered a broad range of topics crucial to estate planning professionals, including elder financial abuse, representation of clients involved in family businesses, the Corporate Transparency Act, private foundations, entity valuations, fiduciary disputes, and the role of artificial intelligence in legal practice. The NCBA designed these sessions to equip estate planning professionals with practical knowledge to better serve their clients. In addition to the educational content, the event facilitated valuable networking opportunities with attorneys and other estate planning experts.
Johnston Allison Hord was proud to have partner Kim Kirk, a fiduciary litigator, represent the firm as a speaker at this year’s conference. Kim presented the North Carolina case law updates in the area of fiduciary law, including a discussion of recent notable trust and estate disputes. Her expertise and analysis offered attendees an understanding of the latest legal trends in North Carolina impacting their practice.
Additionally, Johnston Allison Hord associate attorney Stacy Reid Monroe was nominated and appointed to serve on the NCBA Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section Council. This appointment highlights Stacy’s expertise and dedication to the field of estate planning and fiduciary law, and we look forward to her contributions as part of section leadership.
