Johnston Allison Hord elder law & special needs planning attorney Nicki Engel co-presented a North Carolina Guardianship Association (NCGA) webinar with colleague Catherine Wilson on December 14, 2023. The webinar titled “NC’s New Guardianship Reform Law” covered the details of Session Law 2023-124 (formerly Senate Bill 308/615) and how the law will impact guardianship practice across the state when it goes into effect on January 1, 2024. While the statute will impact several aspects of guardianship practice, the webinar focused on the concept of less restrictive alternatives to guardianship mandated in the new law.
