Johnston Allison Hord partner Nicki Engel was a featured panelist at the 2025 North Carolina Guardianship Association (NCGA) Conference, held April 23–25 in Carolina Beach, NC. She joined Linda Kendall Fields, Stacey Skradski, and Nelia Willis for a panel discussion titled “Restoration to Competency,” which focused on alternatives to guardianship, the legal process for restoring competency, and recent legislative updates affecting guardianship law in North Carolina.
The NCGA Conference brought together legal professionals from across the state to engage in educational sessions, networking opportunities, and workshops focused on guardianship and related legal issues. Other topics discussed during the conference included the guardianship hearing process, legal mechanisms to avoid guardianship, and updates on Medicare and Medicaid.
