Johnston Allison Hord partner Katie Burchette presented “Eyeing the Competition: Non-Competes, Trade Secrets, and the FTC’s Proposed Non-Compete Rule” at the 2025 North Carolina Business Court CLE held November 1st in Charlotte, NC. During her presentation, Katie was joined by Ashley Oldfield of Rayburn Cooper & Durham, P.A. to discuss the state of the law for non-competition agreements and trade secrets. The presentation included an analysis of the continued relevance of the FTC’s now-set-aside non-compete ban, as well as an update on how North Carolina courts review non-competition agreements. Other topics covered during the CLE include the state of business court, artificial intelligence, law on Section 75-1.1, and other legal developments in NC business.
