Johnston Allison Hord client Gustafson Partners has begun work on on its $65 million mixed use Birkdale Place project. The development located in Huntersville, North Carolina will include a hotel, multi-family homes and over forty thousand square feet of retail space. This marks a big step in the project that has been in the works pre-pandemic when Gustafson successfully rezoned almost 20 acres at the site of the former driving range and insert field for the Birkdale Golf Club. The project aims to compliment Birkdale Village and reinvigorate the community.
JAH partner Brian Schoeck has represented Gustafson as outside counsel in matters of acquisitions, land development, and leasing since 2015. For this project, Brian along with JAH partners Kyle Agee, Bob Lindauer, Joe Marek and associate Trent Allard managed all aspects of the project including acquisition, title, tax matters, easements, Master Declaration, Development and Escrow Agreement with the multifamily project and hotel developers, coordination with the golf course operator, city authorities and third party providers/developers.
