Johnston Allison Hord is excited to welcome our 2025 Summer Associates Matt Mengert, Ryann Sinclair, and Tim Dorn. This year’s class brings strong talent, initiative, and deep interest in legal practice. Read below to learn more about Matt, Ryann, and Tim below.
Matt Mengert
Matt is a rising 3L at UNC School of Law. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill with honors in Political Science and minors in Philosophy, Politics, Economics (PPE), and Entrepreneurship. Before law school, Matt worked in Washington, D.C. on redistricting and election law litigation. He is interested in litigation and is motivated by the desire to help others. A piece of advice that’s stuck with him: “Embrace challenges as opportunities in disguise.”
Ryann Sinclair
Ryann is a rising 3L at Notre Dame Law School. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from North Carolina State University, where she also competed on the varsity women’s golf team. Ryann is interested in litigation and enjoys the challenge of approaching something new each day. At Notre Dame, she serves as a Managing Notes Editor for the Journal of Legislation and as a Brief Writer for the Moot Court Board. One piece of advice she values: “Never stop learning because life never stops teaching.”
Tim Dorn
Tim is a rising 3L at Wake Forest University School of Law. He holds a dual B.A. in Economics and Music from the University of Notre Dame and is originally from Asheville, NC. Tim is focused on corporate and commercial real estate law and is especially interested in helping clients avoid legal issues before they escalate. He interned last summer with a small firm in Asheville that specialized in medical malpractice and estate planning. He also served as a legal writing teaching assistant for 1Ls and will assist with Contract Drafting in the coming year. His parents once told him, “If something is easy to achieve, everyone else is probably already doing it. If something is hard to achieve, you must have a real good reason for doing it”—advice he keeps in mind.
