Bob Hord was a go-to Charlotte business and real estate lawyer and a wonderful man. Bob was a Charlotte native and alumnus of Myers Park High School, Davidson College, and the University of North Carolina School of Law. After graduating from UNC School of Law in 1965, Bob served in the US Army achieving the rank of First Lieutenant, and returned to Charlotte in 1967 to begin his law career, practicing with Fairley, Hamrick, Montieth, and Cobb.
After practicing in the Charlotte area for over two decades, Bob joined Miller, Johnston, Taylor, & Allison in 1988. In 1997, the practice became known as Johnston, Allison, & Hord P.A. and Bob became a name partner of the firm. During his legal practice spanning over 50 years, Bob advised clients on all matters involving business and real estate with solid counsel, empathy, and friendship.
In addition to his practice, Bob served on several committees with different organizations including Mecklenburg County Bar Association and Covenant Presbyterian Church. Bob’s favorite Bar activity to participate in was the calendar committee, which he chaired for several years. At Covenant Presbyterian Church, Bob was Chair of the Session and Elder-Emeritus.
Bob left his mark on Johnston Allison Hord and Charlotte as an excellent attorney, leader, friend, and citizen.
The Mecklenburg County Bar recognizes its members who have passed by memoriam and attached below are resolutions adopted September 30, 2021, acknowledging the legacy left by Bob Hord.
