Out of the office David enjoys running, swimming, and lifting in-between injuries; exploring Charlotte; Wake Forest sports; trying to keep the plants in his garden alive; and wine (drinking, learning about, and traveling to wine regions both domestic and international).

In my experience, the earlier and more involved legal counsel is the better. I want to be a part of your team, and not just someone you call when a dispute arises. I seek to understand my clients’ business, goals, and the challenges unique to their industry. I assist in evaluating and managing risk, minimizing legal exposure, and expeditiously and aggressively litigating disputes where necessary, so clients spend more time on their business and less time in the courtroom or attorney’s office.

Licensed to practice in both North and South Carolina, David Brennan primarily represents local and regional corporate clients throughout these states in construction and real property disputes and complex business litigation matters. When legal disputes arise outside of these jurisdictions, David takes advantage of the firm’s Meritas membership to engage and work collaboratively with local counsel to resolve complex legal matters for clients across multiple jurisdictions. David has experience advising and representing client in a range of business litigation matters, including shareholder and membership disputes, breaches of contract, covenants not to compete and non-solicitation agreements, unfair competition, business torts, and trade secret claims. David’s practice also focuses on representing general contractors, subcontractors, owners, and suppliers in a wide range of construction matters, including licensing, contract disputes, defects, delays, and lien and bond claims. David also represents businesses whose national and international scope bring them to Charlotte, and when a litigation matter arises, require local counsel to leverage the experience, specialty and deep connections to the area that our firm has to obtain a favorable outcome. David regularly appears in the state and federal trial and appellate courts of North Carolina, especially the North Carolina Business Court, as well as in arbitral forums. Bringing acumen, expertise, and sophistication commonly associated with “big-law,” David also provides the responsiveness and personal touch you would expect from a lawyer at a much smaller firm. He is a passionate advocate that provides objective and even headed counsel. He will take charge of a matter; seeking not only to provide a picture of the law, but how it impacts the client’s business and unique situation.
