Jim Allison Receives Mecklenburg County Medical Society President's Award.
We are pleased to announce that Jim Allison has received the President's Award from the Mecklenburg County Medical
Society at its Annual Meeting held on January 17, 2006. Jim was recognized for his dedication and pro bono work
performed in connection with establishing Mecklenburg County Medical Society Foundation, Inc. (the "Foundation")
and the Physicians Reach Out Program ("PRO").
PRO is a voluntary program that coordinates the provision of medical services to the "working poor" who otherwise
do not have medical coverage through their regular employment and are not eligible for Medicaid. Almost 1000
physicians in Mecklenburg County have agreed to participate in PRO, along with dedicated efforts from the
Presbyterian Hospital and Carolinas Medical Center. Jim emphatically states that "PRO is a huge commitment
from the medical profession and greatly benefits our community" and he is very pleased to have been part of
the process.
In addition to other work, Jim Allison and David Bohm (i) formed the Foundation and obtained its charitable
501(c)(3) status, (ii) assisted with the transfer of the PRO program over to the Foundation; and (iii) reviewed
and prepared contracts for PRO to perform and provide services.
We are very proud of Jim and David and commend them for a job well done.
